How simple technology is helping us to eliminate down time in digital finishing –
Written by Steve Humphreys, our Office and Marketing Assistant…
About a week or so ago we were having a day like any other here, everyone hard at work, sorting orders, answering emails and addressing all the other day to day requirements a modern business has to deal with. All until that scary moment when my mouse arrow turned into an egg timer and the web page I was on told me that Internet Explorer could not load the page! Panic set in, as I desperately opened a fresh browser to type a different web address, only to experience the same result. I went through the classic “turn it off and on again” procedure, but that didn’t work. I even tried that “technique” with the router, and again, no joy. After frantic (and long) calls with BT I booked an engineer to come and see us.
Since the engineer worked his magic and got us online again, we haven’t dropped offline once. In between us losing connection and his visit though you realise how much a business relies on the internet. A very large portion of my job is based around the internet and all of a sudden, out of the blue, without any warning I couldn’t do anything! Fortunately modern technology stepped in to save the day and I had my face buried in my smart phone for most of the time it took to get sorted. Something I did have access to though, was Microsoft Word, so I decided to write this blog post as well.
It is scary when you consider it, a business could potentially be brought to its knees due to something like a wire coming loose, and suddenly the connection to the information superhighway is lost. The modern world moves so fast that you can get left behind in a heartbeat, especially if you can’t answer an email! But this also presents opportunity, the goalposts don’t stay still for long and we like to think we are one of those proactive companies who move them on a regular basis in our fields of expertise (thankfully it isn’t anything to do with computers.)
You may find it interesting to learn what we have done in our industry, relating to our creasing technology, to ensure that our customers don’t lose valuable time waiting for a visit from our technical engineers if something appears to hold them up…
The internet is there to be embraced and we feel we have done just that! How many pieces of finishing equipment can be sent directly to the end user when purchased via the internet without an engineer having to come and install them? Our research tells us that the numbers are incredibly low, yet something we developed means our solutions are amongst them, and it is something so simple, so obvious and so unique. Of course I am referring to a revolutionary video instruction technology which is incorporated in each model sent direct to global customers. As soon as the box is opened up, the delighted recipient takes out the video card to instantly witness the magic as it begins to play, taking them through every process a trained technician or installation engineer would cover, and more.
Whether we like it or not, internet buying and selling is on the increase and is here to stay. More and more companies are restructuring their business strategies, using technology aids to reach out to the mass audience, and to be successful you need to be involved. With that sentiment in mind, why not check out what we did to ensure that our creasing & perforating solutions stay with our customers, virtually eliminating call out engineers.
If you may be considering a quality creasing & perforating solution that saves you money in all areas, including installation, all you need to do is download our comparison sheet below to decide which machine is right for you, choose the tooling option you need and send us an email. Simple to order and simple to use!
