Print Finishing Lessons on the Road –
Steve Humphreys has been stepping out the office a bit recently for some lessons in print finishing…
For those that don’t know me, (which I guess is most of you reading) my name is Steve Humphreys and I am the Office and Marketing Assistant at CreaseStream. I am based in our UK head office in Lutterworth where alongside helping with the day to day running of the business I also have a big role in marketing the company, particularly online. I have been with the company almost a year and am enjoying my role very much. Something I lack in is hands on knowledge of a print finishing department, which is obviously the field in which we operate. To aid my understanding better I occasionally go out on the road with Lee, one of our technicians here. All of the recent visits I have been on were health checks, which are something that as a company we have offered to all our customers over the last two years. We basically arrange to come and visit our users, see how they are getting on, and find out if there is anything else we can do to help. From my point of view this is great, we have a stock room full of these fantastic print finishing solutions and I can gain more understanding of the problems they solve. To see our solutions in the environment they are intended for and doing the job they are manufactured to do brings to me a whole new level of understanding. It’s also great to meet the operators, who use our products day in and day out, to gain their first hand opinion of how they are getting on with them, and so far everyone I have been out to meet has had nothing but good things to say. Every printer or print finishing company I have visited has had something different to offer, each experience offers me a unique opportunity to learn new things, not only regarding our solutions but about print finishing in general. Don’t forget though, my education on these visits is only a by product, the main reason is you, the customer, and making sure that you and your CreaseStream machine have a long and beneficial relationship. We have also been able to solve other little production problems along the way, some of which our customers might not even realised they had. One particular customer mentioned he had unsuccessfully tried creasing laminated stock so he assumed it couldn’t be done. Once we gave him a couple of our harder laminate creasing ribs (see the photo below) he instantly saw the difference straight away and placed an order – he now has another string to his print finishing bow.
This is one of many examples of our service which clearly goes above and beyond our customers’ expectations. We still have some health checks to do and also still have some slots available.
