Pull or turn a handle –
To advance the wheels of technology, is it more productive to pull or turn a handle…
Ok, I know people really don’t want to pull or turn a handle to gain printed output in any shape or form, but when it comes to creasing menus, greeting cards and book covers etc, it seems thousands of us put up with it.
Imagine the scenario that exists right now – creasing is just an afterthought so print firms acquire a cheap £100 bar creaser through eBay and the owner is proud that at least they have a good quality solution at such a low price, a bargain right? Then they find it takes minutes to print a job and hours to crease it, it just doesn’t make sense, all those extra hours in wages build up. So really the £100 bargain costs over £1,000 per year to use, at least!
So imagine what happened when I placed a handle on a desk-top creaser, at a print show, to speed up the manual process six times faster? Despite the quality being the same or better than what visitors were used to, and regardless of the fact that it was much more accurate, some laughed so hard they fell to their knees. I could have given up there and then, but I knew the laughing would fade and people would eventually understand, and that day has come!
